A man was wounded in a shooting Tuesday evening in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side.

About 6:55 p.m., the 25-year-old was getting out of a vehicle in the 5000 block of South Hermitage when he heard a gunshot and realized he’d been struck in the right side of his body, according to Chicago police.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area Central detectives were investigating.
