A Calumet City man was shot to death Tuesday evening in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said.

Officers responding to a report of gunfire found 26-year-old Darius Patterson with bullet wounds at 5:45 p.m. in the 12300 block of South Emerald, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He had been standing on a sidewalk when someone inside a vehicle shot him multiple times.

Patterson was dead at the scene, authorities said. An autopsy Wednesday found he died of a gunshot wound to his chest and his death was ruled a homicide.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
