A man was killed by gunfire late Thursday in the West Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side.

At 10:58 p.m., 33-year-old Ali Khabab was standing on a back porch in the 6100 block of North Talman when he was shot, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Two males walked over and fired bullets, one of which lodged in his back.

Khabab, who lived in the neighborhood, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston and pronounced dead at 12:08 a.m. Friday, authorities said. An autopsy to determine his cause of death was scheduled for Friday.

No one was in custody. Area North detectives were investigating.
