A teenage boy suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday night in the North Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side.

The 17-year-old shot himself in the foot about 5:50 p.m. in the 4600 block of South Ellis, Chicago Police said.

Police originally reported that the victim was walking down the street when he heard shots and felt pain. About 8:20 p.m. police said the gunshot wound was self inflicted.

He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
