A man was shot and killed early Saturday in south suburban Dolton.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 3:55 a.m., and found 41-year-old Jameaund Jones shot in the chest after a fight outside of a Marathon gas station in the 1400 block of East Sibley Boulevard, according to Dolton police Chief Robert Collins.

Jones’ friend put him in a vehicle and tried to drive him to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, but they were stopped at train tracks by a passing train, Collins said.

An ambulance picked Jones up and took him to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead at 4:48 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
