A man was shot to death Wednesday afternoon in the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Marquis J. Kennedy, 27, was in an alley with a female when they got in an argument and two males approached and fired shots about 2:50 p.m. in the 10200 block of South Eggleston, Chicago police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Kennedy was shot in the arm and armpit and was taken to Trinity Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3 p.m., authorities said.

Area South detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
