VIDEO: Chance the Rapper gives striking teachers an ‘SNL’ shoutout, touts Chicago in song

Second-time “Saturday Night Live” host Chance the Rapper used the high-profile platform this weekend to rally around striking teachers in his hometown.

“I fully support you,” said the Jones College Prep grad, wearing a Chicago Teachers Union sweatshirt. “I just wish that when I was in school, my teachers had gone on a strike.”

He also joked that the last time he hosted the show, “I gave $1 million to CPS. And I’m happy to say it completely fixed everything.”

A tweet from CTU spokesman Eric Ruder showed union bargaining team members watching the show during a late-night work session.

Also supporting the cause were cast members Cecily Strong, Alex Moffat and Chris Redd, who wore red CTU shirts during the final goodnights. All have roots in the Chicago area.

In the monologue, Chance also performed a song about how his love for the Second City extends to supporting everything that’s second — from Pepsi and Burger King to his second child.

“I like the Clippers, the Nets and the White Sox,” he rhymed. “I don’t have Netflix; I like Redbox.”
