A 21-year-old man was shot to death Thursday afternoon on the South Side in Englewood.
Officers were called about 12:20 p.m. for reports of a person down in the 900 block of West 73rd Street, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
They arrived to find Steven Wilborn with a gunshot wound to his head, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known.
He was taken in critical condition to Comer Children’s Hospital and later pronounced dead, authorities said. Police had initially reported that he was 14 or 15 years old.
Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
