Chicago police are warning Southwest Siders about a string of vehicle break-ins reported last month in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

Throughout February, drivers returning to parked vehicles found their belongings inside were stolen, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The incidents occurred:

  • between 7:30 a.m. Feb. 2 and 9:30 a.m. Feb. 3 in the 4500 block of South Richmond Street;
  • about 10:05 p.m. Feb. 6 in the 4300 block of South Campbell;
  • between 12 a.m. and 9 a.m. Feb. 7 in the 4400 block of South Francisco Avenue; and
  • about 10 a.m. Feb. 11 in the 4500 block of South Richmond Street.

Anyone with information on the thefts is asked to call Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
