A woman was wounded in a shooting Thursday while she sat in a parked vehicle in Englewood on the South Side.

The 24-year-old heard gunshots about 9:50 p.m. and realized she struck in the chest, Chicago police said. The shooting happened in the 6200 block of South Wolcott Avenue.

She drove herself a block southwest to the 6300 block of Damen, police said. Paramedics showed up and took her to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized.

Area South detectives are investigating the shooting.
