A four-car crash Saturday in Austin left an elderly woman dead and 11 people injured, including 10 Chicago police officers.

A marked police van, SUV and “several civilian vehicles” were involved in a crash about 10 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Laramie Avenue, according to preliminary information, police said.

Verona Gunn, 89, was taken to Norwegian American Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. A man was taken to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The officers were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Jocelyn Vazquez captured the crash on her phone and posted the footage to various social media accounts.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
