Service on the Chicago Transit Authority’s Red, Brown and Purple lines was delayed Tuesday after a man jumped onto the tracks from a moving train at the Fullerton station.

Chicago police said the 35-year-old man pulled open an emergency door as the northbound Red Line train was departing and jumped out onto the tracks at the station, 943 W. Fullerton Ave.

Power to the tracks was cut in both directions at 9:22 a.m., according to CTA spokesman Jon Kaplan. The man did not make contact with a train or the electrified third rail.

He was removed from the tracks and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized, police and Chicago Fire Department officials said.

Train movement resumed with residual delays by 9:44 a.m., Kaplan said.
