A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting June 22 in Lawndale on the West Side.

About 6 p.m., the men, 18 and 56, were in the 3900 block of West Lexington Street when an unknown person fired shots at them, Chicago police said.

The Demetrius Parks, 18, was struck in the head and rushed to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He died died a day later.

The 56-year-old was hit in the right buttocks and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

An autopsy conducted Saturday found that Parks died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner’s office said. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Three people were in custody for questioning, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.
