Song of the summer? How about one of the biggest songs in 60 years

Lil Nas X and his inescapable Billy Ray Cyrus western rap collaboration “Old Town Road” isn’t just the song of the summer.

It’s now one of the biggest songs in the United States in over half a century, reaching a 14th consecutive week atop the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart.

That’s a milestone achieved by only 10 songs in six decades:

16 weeks

  • “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber (2017).
  • “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men (1995).

14 weeks

  • “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus (2019).
  • “Uptown Funk!” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars (2015).
  • “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas (2009).
