Man killed in Bronzeville drive-by

A 27-year-old man was killed in a drive-by Saturday in Bronzeville on the South Side.

About 6:40 p.m., the man was inside a vehicle in the 200 block of East 41st. Street when a black SUV following from behind drove up beside him and someone inside opened fire, Chicago police said. The SUV fled the scene westbound on 41st Street.

Carlos M. Allen was struck multiple times and rushed to The University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition but later died, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Princeton Park.

An autopsy released Sunday found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
