A man from Carpentersville faces child pornography charges after an officer allegedly found photos on his cellphone in west suburban Elgin.
Edward J. Mrowiec Jr., 55, is charged with two felony counts of disseminating child pornography and four counts of possessing child pornography, according to the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
Elgin police spoke with Mrowiec on Sept. 2 after noticing his car in the parking lot of Wing Park after the park was closed, prosecutors said.
The officer spoke with Mrowiec, who was in the driver’s seat, and his juvenile passenger, and brought them both to the Elgin Police Department, prosecutors said.
At the department, officers allegedly found four pornographic images of a child younger than 13 on Mrowiec’s cellphone, prosecutors said. Two of the digital photos had been provided to another person, prosecutors said.
A judge on Thursday set Mrowiec’s bail to $100,000, prosecutors said. He was also ordered not to have contact with anyone younger than 18. His next court date was set for Sept. 11.
