Woman seriously injured in hit-and-run in Lawndale

A BMW struck the woman in the 800 block of South Western Avenue.

Three people were killed in separate crashes across the Chicago area during a winter storm early Saturday.

A woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday night in Lawndale on the West Side.

The woman, 62, was walking in the 800 block of South Western Avenue when she was hit but a dark-colored BMW around 8:50 p.m., Chicago police said.

The BMW was traveling south on Western Avenue with the green light, police said.

The driver walked up to the victim, then returned to his car and fled, police said. He was last seen traveling west on Arthington Street.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and was listed in critical condition, police said.

No one was in custody.
