Willie Young tore his left Achilles tendon Sunday, coach Marc Trestman said.

Defensive end Willie Young tore his left Achilles tendon Sunday night, Bears coach Marc Trestman confirmed on Monday, and will have surgery “eventually” to fix the problem.

“These things, Achilles, are generally longer-term injuries,” coach Marc Trestman said. “I don’t have a timetable on it.”

Though Trestman wouldn’t give a timeframe, Young, who was carried off the field in the third quarter of the Bears’ 20-14 loss to the Lions, figures to be ready in time for next training camp.

“He’ll have a healing process to go on with the Achilles, but i’m sure he’ll be back ready to go next time around,” Trestman said.

He called Young an “an inspirational leader” this season.

“That’s a tough one,” he said.
