The Bears might have looked like world beaters during Thursday’s 27-10 preseason victory the Dolphins, but the analytics tell a different story.

The experts at numberFire played out thousands of simulations of the 2015 NFL season, and the Bears are expected to finish with an average record of 6.6 wins and 9.4 losses, good for last place in the NFC North. NumberFire gives the Bears an 8.4 chance of winning the division and a 13.1 chance of making the playoffs.

Here’s numberFIRE’s outlook on Bears:

There’s plenty of firepower within the offense for Gase, but until the defense gets in shape, the Bears will be staring at the bottom of the barrel for at least another year.

Here’s how the rest of the division shapes up: 3. Vikings 7.4 wins, 17.1 chance at winning division, 25.2 at making playoffs; 2. Lions 7.9, 23.5, 33; 1. Packers 9.2, 51.1, 61.3.

Don’t lose all hope, though, Bears fans. An insider at numberFire did say that in one of the simulations, the Packers won just four games due to an injury to Aaron Rodgers.
