Bears inside linebacker Roquan Smith is doubtful to play Sunday against the Vikings for what the team called personal reasons.

The announcement was made less than two hours before the game. He was later ruled out.

Backup Nick Kwiatkoski figures to start in his place.

Smith did not appear on the team’s injury report all week. He has played 96.8 percent of the team’s snaps thus far this season. The No. 8 pick in 2018, he’d yet to miss an NFL game.

The Bears were already concerned about their rush defense against the NFL’s leading rusher, the Vikings’ Dalvin Cook. Those worries will only grow without Smith.
