Walgreens will eliminate about 370 positions from its corporate support offices — 270 of them in Chicago.

The job cuts, which will not affect any stores, are part of the company’s ongoing restructuring and cost-reduction plan that was announced a year ago, company spokesman James Graham said in a statement.

Employees who will be cut will be told throughout the month, Graham said, adding that there are no plans for additional staff cuts in the near future.

“Like any well-run business, we will continuously evaluate our business and how we adapt to the changing market place,” he said in an email Monday night.

The cuts will let the Deerfield-based parent company, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc., reduce management layers and consolidate similar job functions, Graham said.

The employees slated to be let go will be offered severance packages and will get a 60 days’ notice, he said.

Walgreens still employs 23,000 people across Illinois.
