A man was critically wounded in a shooting Sunday in south suburban Park Forest.

The 23-year-old was in a common area of an apartment building about 9:20 p.m. in the 100 block of East Sycamore Drive when someone fired several shots, Park Forest police said in a statement.

Police believe he was targeted.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. Illinois State Police were assisting in the crime scene investigation.
