An autopsy found that Dennis Sackmaster died a multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

A 41-year-old man was shot and killed Thursday in Albany Park on the Northwest Side.

Dennis Sackmaster was standing about 12:24 a.m. in an alley in the 4900 block of North Kedzie Avenue when someone in a passing red van fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was hit twice in the abdomen and taken to Saint Francis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police announced at 3:40 a.m. that they had brought a person of interest in for questioning. The person was later released without being charged, police said.

An autopsy found that Sackmaster died a multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Area North detectives are investigating.
