Police are warning residents about a series of garage burglaries since last month in Chatham and Burnside on the South Side.

In most, the suspect forced entry to garages through side or overhead doors and took lawn care equipment, bicycles, snow blowers, tools and other property, according to a community alert from Chicago police.

The burglaries happened:

  • Sometime between May 14 and June 16 In the 8000 block of South Ellis Avenue;
  • At 11 a.m. May 19 in the 8300 block of South Vernon Avenue;
  • At 7 a.m. May 22 in the 8400 block of South Ingleside Avenue;
  • At 6 p.m. May 24 in the 8100 block of South Maryland Avenue;
  • At 3 a.m.May 27 in the 8300 block of South Maryland Avenue;
  • At 1 a.m. May 30 in the 8000 block of South Champlain Avenue;
  • At 8 p.m. June 1 in the 8000 block of South Dobson Avenue;
  • At 4:58 a.m. June 2 in the 8200 block of South Rhodes Avenue;
  • At 3:30 p.m June 4 in the 8400 block of South King Drive;
  • At 2:54 a.m. June 7 in the 8300 block of South State Street; and
  • At 9 a.m. June 13 in the 500 block of East 87th Place.

No suspect description was available, police said. Anyone with information should contact Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
