A man was fatally wounded by gunfire Wednesday in Lawndale on the Southwest Side, according to police.

Richard Norman Jr., 30, was standing on a sidewalk about 6:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Karlov Avenue when someone opened fire from a white-colored SUV, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Norman Jr. was hit in the chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
