A woman was killed in a shooting Sunday in Washington Park on the South Side.

Shaunte Stewart, 46, was driving an Infiniti SUV south about 4:20 a.m. in the 5100 block of South Prairie Avenue with a male in the passenger seat when someone opened fire from the sidewalk, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She was struck in the neck and arm.

Stewart, who lived in Gresham, kept driving and struck a light pole about a block away, authorities said. She was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy released Monday found Stewart died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. Her death was ruled a homicide.
