A 20-year-old man from the south suburbs who was shot in Calumet Park months ago has died.

Donnell Sails was stopped at a traffic light at 2:09 p.m. July 4 at 127th and Marshfield streets when a dark-colored vehicle pulled alongside him, according to Lake County, Indiana, Coroner Merrilee Frey and Calumet Park Police Chief Kenneth Mann. Someone in the vehicle shot at Sails and hit him multiple times in the upper body.

Sails, who lived in Riverdale, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn before being transferred to Franciscan Health Hospital in Hammond, Indiana, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at 2:20 p.m. on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and no one is in custody in connection with the shooting, Mann said.
