A person was fatally shot Monday in Gary.

About 1:45 a.m., police responded to the 600 block of West 19th Avenue for calls of a person shot and found a male with gunshot wounds, Gary police said.

The male, who remains unidentified, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lake County coroner’s office, police said.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
