Man fatally shot in Gary

A 29-year-old man was fatally shot in Gary Wednesday.

Jarell Taylor was with another man, 29, parked in the 3700 block of Madison Street about 9:05 p.m, when another vehicle drove by and fired shots at them, according to Gary police and the Lake County Coroner’s office.

Taylor was struck and driven to Methodist Hospital Northlake, police said.

He was pronounced dead about an hour later, according to the coroner’s office. An autopsy ruled Taylor’s death a homicide.

The other man did not see the shooter or their vehicle as he ducked down when they began firing, police said.

The Gary Metro Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting.
