The ear-worm song that children and parents alike can’t get out of their heads is becoming a new animated Nickelodeon TV series.

The giant in children’s programming announced Wednesday that a deal has been struck with SmartStudy, the entertainment company behind Pinkfong — who made “Baby Shark” into a mega sensation.

An entire YouTube series was launched on the catchy tune about a family of cartoon sharks— baby, mommy, daddy, grandma and grandpa — who kids hunt and then run away from.

Ramsey Naito, Executive Vice President, Nickelodeon Animation, said it made sense to capitalize on the stratospheric popularity on one of 10 most-viewed videos on YouTube ever (more than 2.8 billion views) and 20-week Billboard Top 100 song.

”At the heart of any popular piece of content is a terrific character, and we have a great opportunity to further explore the world of Baby Shark and follow this family through some great animated adventures on Nickelodeon,” Naito said in a statement to USA TODAY.

Nickelodeon offered no other details, such as when the series might premiere.

But the company did say they are rushing products to stores associated with the series.

Again, details were seriously lacking.

Are they talking baby shark plushies? Lunch boxes? Action figures?

Well, whatever. We can bet there’s an appetite for it.

When WowWee, the makers of Fingerlings toys, sold baby shark singing toys on Amazon last year, the entire stock was sold out in just two days.

“Baby Shark” became a breakout sensation when it launched on YouTube in November 2015. With music, characters, story and dance all combined together, “Baby Shark” took the world by storm, amassing 2.9 billion YouTube views and becoming the 9th most watched video in the platform’s history.
