R. Kelly 2016 tour headed to Chicago

Grammy-winner R. Kelly today announced The Buffet tour, kicking off April 21 in Cincinnati. The tour will make a Chicago stop on May 7 at the Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim, Rosemont.

Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. March 25 at Ticketmaster.com. A special pre-sale begins 10 a.m. March 23.

Kelly will be accompanied on the 40-city tour by a live band and backup singers, and according to the tour’s official release, “performing songs his fans have never seen live.”

The tour is an homage to his latest album, “The Buffet,” released last December. The album yielded the hits “Backyard Party” and “Marching Band.”

“I’ve changed everything for this tour including the stage setup — plus the production is crazy! … I have fans from numerous generations listening to my music now and I wanted to provide everyone with something they could enjoy,” Kelly said in an official statement.
