Fox’s new standup comedy showcase “Laughs” will be taping in Chicago Aug. 18, but you can watch the funny unfold live — and for free, if you act fast.

“Laughs” plans to film material for future episodes during two shows at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at the Laugh Factory, 3175 Broadway.

Sixteen different standup comics are scheduled to perform in each of the two shows, emceed by “Laughs” host and comedian Steve Hofstetter.

Producers want to pack the audience (not necessarily an easy feat for a 300-seat venue on a Monday night), so they’re giving away a limited number of free tickets.

You can get a pair while supplies last by going to the Next Round Entertainment website, clicking on the Chicago show and entering the promo code SUNTIMES. You can also buy tickets for $17 to $27 on the Laugh Factory website.

The TV show is a curated collection of standup clips from comics performing at clubs around the country. Fox is testing it out in several major markets before deciding whether to roll it out nationwide. It debuted Aug. 2 and airs at 11 p.m. Saturdays on WFLD-Channel 32. You can also catch it at 9 p.m. Sundays on MyNet.

The upcoming pair of Laugh Factory shows will feature a mix of local and out-of-town talent.

Signed up to perform at the 7 p.m. show: Mia Jackson, Jarret Berenstein, Brian Aldridge, John Conroy, Saleem, Regina Deccico, Andrew Rivers, Johnny Beehner, Charles McBee, Brent Terhune, Larry Reeb, Stan Chen and Jamie Ward.

At the 9:30 p.m. show: Kellye Howard, Drew Frees, Danny Palmer, Jon Pfendler, Alli Breen, Mike Merryfield, DJ Dangler, Raanan Hershberg, Brian Babylon, Mitch Burrow, Rob Ryan, Kristen Toomey, Martin Morrow and Sam Norton.
