A man was killed in a crash that shut down the Bishop Ford Freeway near South Holland for more than five hours during Tuesday’s morning commute.
Randall A. Moore, 41, was driving a black 2006 Dodge sedan about 3:50 a.m. on northbound I-94 near Sibley Boulevard when the car rear-ended a slow-moving Freightliner semi, according to Illinois State Police.
Moore, who lived in Burnside on the South Side of Chicago, was dead at the scene, state police said. No other injuries were reported.
An autopsy found he died of head injuries from the crash, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
All inbound lanes were closed for the crash and traffic was diverted at 159th Street while authorities investigated, according to state police and the Illinois Department of Transportation. All lanes were reopened at 9:30 a.m.
