A 17-year-old boy died Monday after he was struck by a vehicle in northwest Indiana.

Andrew Salka died at 7:12 p.m. Monday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Salka was struck by a vehicle in the 600 block of East 73rd Avenue in Merrillville, Indiana, according to the medical examiner’s office. He lived nearby in the 6500 block of East 84th Drive in Merrillville.

An autopsy Wednesday found he died of multiple injuries from a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian, and his death was ruled an accident.

A Merrillville police spokesman did not immediately return a message seeking information.
