DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2009

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and the Economic Daily Briefing. These briefings are closed press.

Later, the President will meet with Prime Minister Maliki of Iraq in the Oval Office. There will be a pool spray at the bottom of the meeting.

The President will then hold a recognition ceremony to honor Troop A, First Squadron, 11th Armored Combat Regiment of the U.S. Army, recipients of the Presidential Unit Citation for actions in the Republic of Vietnam. Eighty-six Troop A veterans will be in attendance to receive the unit honor from the President at the White House in recognition of their exemplary service and personal sacrifice nearly four decades ago. This event is open press.

In the afternoon, the President will meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press. The President will then travel to New York City. The departure from the South Lawn and the arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport are open press.

The President will tour the Joint Terrorism Task Force Headquarters in New York City. The tour is closed press. He will then deliver remarks to staff members. The remarks are pooled press.

In the evening, the President will deliver remarks at a fundraiser for Bill Owens, the Democratic candidate running for New York’s 23rd Congressional District, at the Mandarin Ballroom. He will then deliver remarks at a fundraiser to benefit the DNC at the Hammerstein Ballroom. The President’s remarks at both fundraisers are pooled press.

The President will return to Washington, DC that night. The departure from John F. Kennedy International Airport and the arrival on the South Lawn are open press.
