Celtic Fest Chicago

Saturday and Sunday at Millennium Park; free

Come for the live entertainment (the Saw Doctors and La Botinne Souriante headline) and stay for the Men in Kilts Leg Contest at this popular fest, now in a new location. Also enjoy beer, traditional food, bagpipers and arts and crafts vendors.

‘Avenue Q’

Through Sunday at Bank of America Theatre; $22.50-$72.50; get tickets

This raunchy show, which uses both humans and puppets, is like ‘Sesame Street’ for grownups. The story of a recent college grad living in the cheapest street in New York (Avenue Q) explores topics like racism and homosexuality while “teaching” lessons in how to find a purpose in life. Oh, and there’s puppet nudity, too

Mole de Mayo

All day Saturday at El Zocalo Plaza, 1800 S. Paulina; $1

Local Pilsen restaurants compete for awards in this mole sauce smorgasbord. Participating restaurants include returning champions Fogata Village and Nuevo Leon, DeColores, FIG Catering, Lalo’s on Maxwell, Mundial Cocina Mestiza, Real Tenochtitlan and Zocalo. If you get your fill of moles, check out the beer and michelada vendors, an outdoor market featuring Pilsen businesses and live entertainment including wrestlers, mariachis and the Pro Arts Circus Group.

Mother’s Day Brunches

Still haven’t made special Sunday plans for Mom yet? What kind of a kid are you? Never fear, as we have a list of dozens of special meals and deals for Mother’s Day. And while you’re at it, check out our gift ideas and great bakeries.

Holmes Brothers

7 p.m. Sunday at Old Town School of Folk Music; $18-$22

Known since the late ’70s for their downtempo approach to blues, gumbo-ing porch-swing harmonies and pocket drumming, the Holmes Brothers can pull off everything from a church hall to a street festival. Three veteran sidemen, led by Old Town teacher, Harlan Terson, open.

Just missed the cut: Blockhead, Frightened Rabbit, The Last Cargo Cult, Stage Door, Talking Pictures Festival, Dress Up Like Your Favorite Mother Pub Crawl
