Needing depth after the loss of Lance Louis, the Bears signed five-time Pro Bowl guard Andre Gurode on Tuesday.
Gurode has started 127 of the 151 NFL games he’s played over 10 seasons, all but one of them with the Dallas Cowboys. He started five games last season for the Baltimore Ravens.
Gurode is 6 foot 4, 318 pounds, and he was originally a second-round pick of the Cowboys. A five-time Pro Bowl selection, Gurode also was a two-time All-Pro. He’s started at center and guard with distinction.
He had left knee surgery and missed the 2011 training camp.
The Bears also waived defensive tackle Amobi Okoye from the 53-man roster. The tam also signed offensive lineman Derek Dennis and receiver Dale Moss to the practice squad and terminated the practice squad contracts of receiver Raymond Radway and guard Chris Riley.
Dennis is a 6-3, 315-pound rookie out of Temple University who originally signed with the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent and also saw time in the preseason with the New England Patriots. Moss entered the NFL this season as an undrafted free agent of the Green Bay Packers out of South Dakota State. The 6-3, 213-pound receiver spent the first 10 weeks of the regular season on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad.
