The Bears on Wednesday signed safety Derrick Martin to take the roster spot of cornerback Charles Tillman, who was placed on injured reserve-designated to return with a triceps injury.

The 5-foot-10, 198-pound Martin was in Bears camp this preseason, appearing in two games.

He’s played 66 career games — with the Ravens (2006-08), Packers (2009-10), Giants (2011) and Patriots (2012) — since bing drafted by Baltimore in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft.
