Defensive end Shea McClellin doubtful for Sunday with hamstring pull

A week after his breakout, three-sack performance against the Green Bay Packers, defensive end Shea McClellin is looking at missing at Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions.

McClellin pulled his hamstring during drills at practice on Thursday and didn’t practice on Friday. Coach Marc Trestman said that he’s doubtful for the Lions game.

“Shea tweaked a ham, got a little pull in his ham,” Trestman said.

The timing is awful. McClellin was named the NFC defensive player of the week for his performance against the Packers, which included his injury-causing sack on Aaron Rodgers. The Bears hoped it was the start of something good for McClellin, who had an up-and-down first half of the season.

“No. 1 on a personal level, I feel bad for him if he doesn’t play because he really had a god game last week — we all know that — and he was moving in the right direction, so certainly disappointed for him,” Trestman said. “We’ve said it all year, we’ve got to find a way to do it with the guys that we have and that’ll be David bass and Cheta [Ozougwu], he’ll probably be up and we’ll go from there.”
