Carl Vizzone, fast becoming one of my favorite chroniclers of the city wilds around Chicago outdoors, caught these bucks at North Park Village Nature Center on Dec. 4.

He emailed:

I’ve attached a couple of pictures of bucks from the 2013 Deer Count at North Park Village Nature Center on the 4th. They counted 57 total inside and outside the fences. Pretty astounding considering the normal amount for the same acreage statewide is five.

BOTW: Unplugged, the celebration of live big bucks around Chicago outdoors, runs on the Sun-Times outdoors page on Sundays, as warranted.

There are a multitude of ways to send nominations of BOTW: Unplugged: on Facebook (Dale Bowman), Twitter (@BowmanOutside) or email (straycasts@sbcglobal.net).
