Northwestern wide receiver Christian Jones sustained an upper body injury when he attempted to catch a pass in the end zone during the first quarter of Saturday’s home game against Western Michigan.

He is probably to return to the game.

Streaking from the slot, quarterback Trevor Siemian threw the ball high and just out of Jones’ grasp. The junior receiver then leaped to grab the ball but was immediately hit by Western Michigan safety Justin Currie.

Jones gingerly walked off the field under his own power and is being evaluated by Northwestern’s training staff.
