(BOLINGBROOK) No one was hurt in a fire that broke out at a southwest suburban home day care center late Saturday in Bolingbrook.

Emergency crews responded at 11:20 p.m. to the home at 1015 Churchill Drive, Bolingbrook Fire Battalion Chief Dan Graf told reporters at the scene. Barbara’s Day Care is listed at that address.

The garage and front of the home were fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, Graf said.

One person escaped the house unharmed before crews arrived, officials said.

The fire started in the garage before spreading to the exterior of the home. It may have been accelerated by gasoline from the tank of a car in the garage, Graf said. The blaze was extinguished early Sunday.

The day care was closed at the time of the fire, according to online records. Neighbors at the scene said the woman who lives in the home operates the center on weekdays.

Damage estimates weren’t immediately available but the home was rendered uninhabitable, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
