(MELROSE PARK) Metra’s Union Pacific / West Line is experiencing delays Thursday morning after an outbound train broke down in west suburban Melrose Park.

Inbound and outbound trains are operating between 15 and 35 minutes behind schedule, according to Metra’s website.

Train No. 13, which was scheduled to arrive in Elburn at 7:21 a.m., was stopped at the Melrose Park station earlier Thursday because of mechanical problems, according to Metra. However, the tracks have since been reopened.

Inbound train No. 36, which was scheduled to leave Elburn at 7:35 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 8:53 a.m., did not operate Thursday morning because of the mechanical issues, according to a service alert.

The next inbound train to Chicago on the Union Pacific / West Line, No. 38, was scheduled to depart Elburn at 8:05 a.m., Metra said.

Metra is advising riders to listen to platform announcements for delay times.
