A teenage girl was sexually assaulted Monday night while walking home in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood.

The 16-year-old girl was in the 600 block of East 75th Street about 7:30 p.m. when a man walked up to her and tried to make conversation, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives.

The girl refused to speak to the man, but he forced her into an alley and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The suspect is described as a 20-25 year old black man between 6-foot and 6-foot-1, 170-185 pounds with a dark complexion. He was wearing dark baggy blue jeans and white Air Force One gym shoes.
