(WOODSTOCK) A man has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender after he moved from the northwest suburbs into Wisconsin, police said.
Carlos A. Lopez, 24, was charged with unlawful violation of the Sexual Offender Act after it was learned that he was no longer residing at a home in the 500 block of Clay Street in Woodstock, the address where he was registered, according to a statement from Woodstock police.
Lopez had been living in Kaukauna, Wis., for about three weeks, according to the statement.
Sex offenders who are required to register are mandated to report any change of address, employment status and other criteria within three days, police said.
Lopez was located in Kaukauna and taken into custody, police said.
He remains in custody at the Outagamie (Wis.) County Jail on a $20,000 bond, police said. He is next scheduled to appear in court Sept. 24.
