An elderly west suburban woman died Sunday following a crash in River Grove.

Marie Dwyer, 89, was hurt in a Jan. 14 crash in the 1700 block of First Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office and River Grove police.

She was heading south on First Avenue near the intersection of Striebe Drive when another vehicle attempted to turn left from Striebe onto First Avenue and the vehicles collided, police said.

Dwyer, of the 400 block of Ashland Avenue in River Forest, was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where she was pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m. Sunday, the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy Monday found that she died of complications of multiple injuries from a motor vehicle collision, and listed chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as a secondary factor, the medical examiner’s office said.

A man in the other vehicle remains hospitalized in intensive care as of Tuesday afternoon, police said.
