Woman killed in Oak Brook crash last week identified

A woman who was killed in a crash last week in west suburban Oak Brook has been identified.

Janice Smith, 69, was driving westbound on 31st Street near Regent Drive when she crossed the median and crashed head-on with an oncoming vehicle at 9:43 a.m. Thursday, according to Oak Brook police and the DuPage County coroner’s office.

Smith, of Wheaton, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the coroner’s office.

The driver of the other vehicle was injured and taken to a hospital, police said.

The Felony Investigative Assistance Team is investigating the crash.
