A man killed in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night in northwest suburban Mount Prospect has been identified.

About 8:15 p.m., a 46-year-old Arlington Heights man was struck by a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Algonquin Road east of Briarwood Drive, according to a statement from Mount Prospect police.

Jose F. Gonzalez-Navarette, of the 1100 block of East Arlington Road, was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said the vehicle may be dark-colored with front-end damage.

The Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting Mount Prospect police with the investigation.
