A Frankfort man recently won $500,000 after playing the Lucky Day Lotto.

Michael Jeffers purchased the winning ticket for the May 28 drawing at a Frankfort gas station and matched all five numbers: 16 — 18 — 23 — 28 — 29, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery.

“The clerk gave me a surprised look and said, ‘You won half-a-million dollars,’” Jeffers said.

The retailer will receive $5,000, or 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
