Police upgraded a missing person alert to high-risk on Sunday for an elderly man from the West Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Mateo Fernandez, 78, was last seen Thursday wearing a white T-shirt, navy blue pants and brown sandals in the 6200 block of South Karlov, according to a missing person alert from Chicago Police on Saturday.

On Sunday, police upgraded the alert for him and said he may be in need of immediate medical attention.

The 5-foot-6, 140-pound Hispanic man has a large scar across his chest, police said.

The men, 18 and 20, were in the 1800 block of West Monroe Street about 9:20 p.m. when two people got out of a light-colored sedan and fired shots. They were hospitalized in fair condition.
